So this week is National Inclusion Week (NIW) and the theme is #NowIsTheTime

Founded by Inclusive Employers in 2013, NIW is an annual September event dedicated to celebrating inclusion and taking action to build inclusive workplaces.

We started our employee owned journey back in 2014, and have always felt that a natural next-step would be to explore all things inclusion — what does it mean for us, what are we doing right, can we improve — be better?

We jumped right in and are now proud IE members! This year’s theme feels pertinent — no time like the present! We’re fully committed to building a workplace and learning environment that truly embraces inclusion — for our internal team, our associate consultants and importantly our learner delegates. Like our learning experiences, we wanted to ensure our approach was informed, measurable and impactful, as well as channelling our values (which we never tire of shouting about!) — Care, Connection, Playful, Grounded.

“In a small employee-owned company like Interaction, inclusion means making sure every voice is heard and everyone feels welcome – whether they’re part of our team, a delegate, or a client. Our partnership with Inclusive Employers helps us keep growing and improving how we do inclusion every day.” — Katie Scott, Managing Director

But what does it really mean — what’s changed for Interaction? In truth … it has confirmed that on many levels we are doing the right things, but it has provided some formality and a lot more food for thought. It has given us tools and stepping stones to do just that – get started. We now have access to a wide range of resources including webinars, guides, factsheets and expert support.

We understand our data better and share this with our clients which reflects our ongoing ED&I commitment. We’re doing inclusion with purpose! The list is fairly exhaustive but we have tapped into some really important topics including neurodiversity, disability, menopause, LGBTQ+, human sustainability, intergenerational working, mental health, and anti-racism — but the underlying theme for us is awareness and sharing that awareness with our team, our clients and our delegates.

Interaction help people ‘embed learning’ through our training programmes — it’s what we do! This feels no different — our journey continues as we embed inclusivity into the fabric of what we do and how we do it.

National Inclusion Week is an opportunity to make some noise about ‘all things inclusion’. To celebrate the fantastic positives and power of diversity. Don’t wait to talk about it, use this week as a motivator to share, role model and be curious. One thing’s for sure, our team are proud to put inclusion at the heart of everything we do.

#NowIsTheTime to keep listening, learning and acting….
