Calling all South-West & Wales based people interested in graduates/early talent

We're delighted to be hosting the next South-West and Wales regional meeting for the Institute of Student Employers (ISE - previously known as the AGR) on September 11th in Bristol. This member organisation works across Universities, employers and suppliers to create a specialist, added value forum focussed on all things recruitment and development of early-talent.

The regional meeting agenda will be set by the attendees and promises to be a mix of insights, discussions, case studies and sharing of best practice amongst a group of like-minded professionals. It's free to attend but you will need to be a member of ISE to come along. More info and registration details can be found here.

Did you know we are Employee Owned?

Today is ‘EO Day’ and the Employee Ownership Association has been encouraging its members to tell their story.  So, here’s ours…

Interaction’s owners and founders, who had started the company in 1995,  started working part-time as they took up other interests.

We started talking about a possible management buy-out by the permanent employees, and came across the concept of Employee Ownership; we liked it - it made the purchase more affordable and offered a sustainable solution for the business into the future, and we joined the EOA.

We engaged Baxendale who ably helped to steer us all, owners and employees, through the process of becoming Employee Owned.

In September 2015 the deal was done and ownership of the business passed from the founders to the employees;  we currently have a hybrid scheme, with the majority of shares being held in trust, and a small percentage currently owned directly by the employees who were here when the story started in 2007.

We paid our first profit-share as an Employee Owned company, and have paid one each year since.

Exciting agenda for the next Talent Forum

We’re delighted to let you know that we have two confirmed guest speakers at the next employer led Talent Forum on 15th June who will provide insights on talent related topics from graduate to senior management level. Sam Gordon from the Institute of Student Employers (ISE – previously called the AGR) will be updating us on the latest early talent/graduate development and recruitment trends and Mark Swain from Henley Business School will be offering a perspective on the changing leadership paradigm and development considerations for L&D. As ever there will be time for break-out groups to discuss relevant talent related areas and share best practice with a cross-section of L&D managers. Suggested topics include; succession planning, reverse mentoring, ‘returnships’, implementing a coaching culture and managing mid-life aspirations with talent.

Our thanks to Horizon Nuclear for hosting this event at the Gloucestershire Rugby Club. If you work in an L&D function and would like to come along to this free event, please register here
