National Grid wins award for its GDP!

Our client, National Grid, has scooped the Power Team of the Year award, during the recent People in Power Awards.  The award presented by Dame Kelly Holmes on behalf of the National Skills Academy for Power, was in recognition for the improvements realised through the implementation of the Enhanced Graduate Development Programme (GDP) Framework.

The enhanced GDP has delivered a range of business specific improvements to the development aspects of the programme, including;

  • A “best in class” bespoke Performance Management System - driving responsibility for  performance and rewarding graduates who add significant business value
  • Establishment of GDP Governance Forums - improving business and learner engagement and driving continuous improvement
  • Rated 14th in The JobCrowd Top 50 Graduate Employers - key recognition, as this  award is based on graduates experiences whilst on-programme

Craig Smith - Learning & Development: Graduate Programme Manager said;

‘We are delighted to win the Power Team of the Year Award. This recognises 18 months of hard work taking National Grid’s Graduate Development Programme from good to great. Interaction Learning and Development have been an integral part of our Graduate Development Programme for a number of years and have significantly contributed to its overall success’.

We have been working with National Grid for ten years delivering the behavioural component of their GDP.

HBDI Certification

Simon, one of our senior consultants, has just completed his HBDI certification workshop.  The HBDI tool helps individuals, groups and teams understand theirs and others thinking preferences.

Simon will be using HBDI straight away with individuals and teams from a global food manufacturer and retailer as they look to integrate teams following a number of acquisitions.

Engaging the business

We designed a bespoke HR consulting skills programme with a client to help their HR team make the transition from business partners to consultants.  This is a strategic shift in the HR service to support the new global operating model of the business.

The first workshop centered around helping consultants make plans to effectively engage key stakeholders.

It was the first time the team had come together for some time and so part of the opportunity was to create some shared learning objectives.

When we meet again in June we will be reviewing stakeholder plans and concentrating on those consulting skills that will make a difference to the team.

Bitesize L(a)unches

The past week has seen us launch bitesize learning with a global food manufacturer and retailer.  Working with the client closely has allowed us to create bespoke sessions that are engaging and delivered with maximum impact to enthuse and engage participants with learning.

Sessions range from career management to dealing with difference.  All seven sessions are being run across our clients UK and Ireland offices and have been offered to all employees.  The length of the session allow employees to fit sessions into the working day and combine sessions to support ongoing development.
