Identifying potential leaders

I’ve just read an interesting article that points out the dangers of identifying potential leaders through the common method of succession planning. It links well to the work that we have been doing with a new client on developing future leaders. How to select people at different levels to take part in the two programmes has been the subject of much debate and has exposed some limitations associated with their succession data. The solution has been to combine succession planning data with inviting people to apply to take part in the programmes.
